From my PhD project to the Grigor McGlelland Award
On my 27th birthday, marking three years since I embarked on my first Ph.D. project and two years since my first paper acceptance, I'm humbled and honored to announce that my dissertation titled "Digital footprints of entrepreneurs - towards a deeper understanding of support acquisition in digital spaces" has been recognized with the prestigious runner-up/honorable mention of the Grigor McClelland Award at EGOS (European Group for Organizational Studies) in Cagliari, Italy!
The Grigor McClelland Doctoral Dissertation Award stands as one of the most esteemed recognitions for dissertations in management research. Supported by the renowned Journal of Management Studies (JMS) and the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS), this award seeks to promote and acknowledge groundbreaking research in the field.
In my thesis, I explore the fascinating realm of digital footprints left by entrepreneurs on the internet, leveraging sources like social media texts. This approach provides an unprecedented opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of support acquisition. Specifically, I utilize cutting-edge data, such as big text data from Reddit, Inc., which offers an intriguing and novel context for studying support acquisition. To analyze this unique data, my thesis presents, among others, a new mixed method approach that combines natural language processing and qualitative comparative analysis.
As I reflect on this significant achievement on my birthday, I am not only filled with immense joy but also fueled by a renewed passion for exploring the intricate world of digital footprints and their profound impact on entrepreneurship literature. This recognition serves as a powerful motivation to reach even greater heights and delve deeper into my research endeavors. I eagerly anticipate the opportunities that lie ahead and the positive impact I can make as I continue to explore the digital footprints of entrepreneurs.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my supervisors (Katrin Burmeister-Lamp, Matthias Waldkirch) colleagues, friends and family for their unwavering support throughout this transformative journey. Their belief in me has been a constant source of inspiration.
Congratulations to my fellow nominees and the winner of the Grigor McClelland Award. Your outstanding contributions to the field of management research are truly commendable. Together, let us forge new paths of knowledge and leave a lasting impact on our respective domains.
